He has been awarded several national research grants on topics such as urbanization, transportation, energy, climate change, sustainability, urbanization, and population change. He has received several research fellowships from organizations such as the Helmholtz Association and Cheney Senior Fellowship and has served as an expert on energy and environmental policy. He is an editor of Environmental Economic and Policy Studies and on the editorial board for six journals including Resource and Energy Economics, a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and is the author of "Technology, Natural Resources and Economic Growth: Improving the Environment for a Greener Future", published by Edward Elgar Publishing Ltd, and editor of "The Routledge Handbook of Environmental Economics in Asia". He is the author of 12 books and 140 academic journal papers.
